The CCRI Model:

COLLABORATION IN DECISION MAKING

CCRI functions within a climate of mutual respect and shared values attempting in all things to behave as we want the institutional Church to behave. We communicate with all we encounter in a responsive and responsible manner supporting always a team approach.

We build relationships to help each of us grow to perform our responsibilities effectively in a timely, effective and equitable manner.  Therefore, as we encounter events that demand swift and compassionate resolution, we will strive to function with the following values:

  •  respect the dignity of all we encounter;
  •  embrace individual differences as well as limitations of all we encounter;
  •  work to develop trusting, interdependent relationships with all we encounter;
  •  act with honesty, integrity and respect in all relationships, in all correspondence and media communication.  We will consistently choose to take the high road in all we say and do.

Principles We Follow:

As critical issues occur that demand swift resolution (as they will in this pioneer enterprise), we will:

  • Honor the process of prayerful discernment( a link here to define this process) to resolve those issues.
  • Honor the principle of subsidiarity: issues affecting a group are resolved by that group.
  • Honor the common good of CCRI and the direction and goals that are defined.
  • Honor the critical issue with a balance of logic and affect to understand the context of the issue.
  • Recognize that all groups are capable of resolving their own problems and making responsible, “common good decisions.”  We trust that when critical issues arise, the group/committee owns both the issue and its resolution.  When the issue has broader ramifications than the team itself, the team is requested to consult with the Advisory Group for insights and direction.
  • Recognize that, for CCRI, decisions driven through collaboration increase the intelligence of every decision taken in our efforts and should be shared to increase this potential.
  • Therefore, we collaborate to engage (soliciting input, sharing ideas) to frame the decision before us.
  • We collaborate to evaluate and consider viable alternatives and select the best option.
  • We collaborate to execute.  CCRI is about action therefore, at this juncture, a clear decision is made and responsible parties are defined to put it into practice.
  • Recognize that all solutions have consequences—examine those potential consequences.
  • Recognize that over time all solutions become tomorrow’s new problems if thoughtful consideration, reflection and consequences have not been examined thoroughly.
